Dear Friends and Fellow Citizens,
Welcome to my campaign to bring responsibility to our dysfunctional Maryland Legislature.
I want to represent you, the good folks of southern Prince George's and northern Calvert counties, because our jobs, our property, our families and our quality of life are truly threatened by bad lawmaking in Annapolis.

In 2010, we face a major crisis -- a $2.5 BILLION dollar annual structural budget deficit.
Simply put, every year we take in $2.5 billion less in taxes than we pay out for shrinking public services and massive unfunded taxpayer liabilities -- in particular our failing state pension systems. This monstrous debt load -- more than $19,000 per household just for unfunded pensions -- is a catastrophe in the making... unless YOU vote for real reform.
Once again in 2010, our irresponsible "Delegates For Life" lacked the honesty to enact a sustainable state budget. Instead, incumbents Jim Proctor and Joe Vallario -- beholden to greedy special interests-- shamelessly raided more than forty different public trust funds, preserved for vital government functions like our roadways, schools, protecting the Chesapeake Bay, and public safety.
Even worse, the incumbents refuse to cut funding for corrupt earmarks like illegal alien social benefits. Their "plan" for 2011 is to pay for their special interest spending by raising taxes and cutting basic services for middle class citizens -- unless YOU stop them in November!
The General Assembly is a mess and our state is going broke. But YOU - the citizen and voter-- must get up off the couch, "roll up your sleeves" and send Mike Hethmon to "clean house" in your House of Delegates.
One party has controlled the Maryland General Assembly since 1898! That's 112 years of accumulated cronyism and dealmaking by insiders. Human nature doesn't "change," no matter how much you "hope" for it. That's why tough, smart, sustainable reform, real checks and balances, are so badly needed.
Visit the EXPERIENCE page to see Mike's qualifications to serve as your state lawmaker.
You'll find Mike Hethmon's action agenda for reform on the TOP TEN ISSUES page.
Learn how you can "grab a broom" and help inform the voting public about the Mike Hethmon for Delegate 27A Campaign 2010.
Thank you and may God bless us everyone,
Mike Hethmon, Croom, Maryland, July 4, 2010.
